An eleven year old boy walked up behind his mother, her cigarette sporting the longest ash. Her coffee streamed a thin steamy vapor around her. She smiled as the boy's hands covered her forehead and eyes. For ten minutes she sighed as the throbbing searing pain left her head. The boy walked around and looked into her smiling, unconditionally loving eyes. "Mommy feels all better honey."

The eleven year old boy was me.

In 1988 I moved to the West Coast and began studying anything I could get my hands on. From the Healing Light Center studying Native American energy medicine, a short time later with Luis Gaspareto, one of the foremost authorities in Brazilian based energy medicine, to I.P.S.B. (Institute for Psycho Structural Balancing) in 1991 and the training continued on and on.

This all became the process of Bodywurx® which is defined in this newsletter. Just as I saw clearly that there was a need for bridging emotional healing with body release, I recently came to the realization that it's time to communicate in a more far-reaching manner in order to help more people experience the possibility of this. This newsletter is my first step in that direction.

My hope is to spark individuals who are on their path to look deeper and perhaps those who are only thinking about these ideas for the first time, to ask themselves if they're even willing to consider such an idea as releasing blocked emotions and stuck physical pain; that this might create the space or spaciousness for an expanded life or for joy or more fun.

Finally, seeing an opportunity to collaborate with more individuals, I looked at my own list of resources and being gratefully helped by each one of these individuals, felt that it could be a great source to share of these Doctors, practitioners, resources etc...the heart of the people, that is not the label, it's the person. A document can be read by many people. People help to make this information resources and ideas free to all for awareness.

- Massage techniques including one of the half dozen varieties of massage from Swedish to Esalen.
- Structural integration
- It is somewhat similar to Hellerwork or Rolfing yet quite distinctive.
- Breathwork
- Emotional release work based on trainings of Elisabeth Kubler-Ross and her externalization process.

DURATION OF TREATMENT

People frequently ask me " how often should I receive treatment?"

Though I do not ascribe to a person committing to a "series of ten etc.", I do find it helpful for a person to recognize the cumulative impact and benefit of the work that they allow themselves to experience by doing the work initially with some regularity. What people say they find helpful is doing the work weekly, in some cases bi-weekly, in some every third week or one time per month.

Beyond 21 days however, (the number of days it takes to change a belief system or habit), it seems that there is a bit of catch up or backtracking necessary, therefore folks say that more regular (especially in the beginning phase) is most helpful for them to realize what cumulative impact is for them.

When people ask what should I do, I share what I sense might be helpful or skillful or what others have found helpful. Mostly I invite them to tune into their own guidance and to do what speaks to them. Finally, as I work with individuals, I urge them to continually assess their progress and perceived benefit and value that is being added by the work.

I suggest that they reassess every few sessions and almost in a sense renegotiate and recommit with themselves in order that they will use the process more and with greater focus and intent.

In closing, I find that people seem to heal in cycles, a number of cycles or number of sessions anywhere from 4-20. One might say they don’t know exactly what happened, but they feel like they went through a major transition or are able to sustain joy or clear a pattern that had been plaguing them for their whole life, no longer feeling trapped by that certain piece.

"Concerning all acts of initiative and creation there is one elementary truth the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans; that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would otherwise not have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one's favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance which no man could have dreamed would have come his way. Whatever you can dream you can do, do it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it. Begin it now"

Barry Bruder: So tell me, what do you do when you work in people's homes?
Amy Reich: My practice is called "LIVING SPACES," harmonious home solutions. I help create balanced and supportive living and work spaces. A lot of insight shows up when I go into a person's home and help them to see their space in a different way.

B.B.: How do you do this?
A.R.: I use Integrative Feng Shui – applying techniques of Compass and Bagua styles, along with symbology, space & clutter clearing, and Vaastu Shastra (Indian Design). I work with the client to bring a greater sense of harmony & balance to the home or office. Feng Shui is both an art and science that dates back several thousand years in China. According to the direction your building sits, the year it was built, and the current year, I work with its underlying energy to balance out the space at deep levels. This is a very personalized process, definitely not "one size fits all."

B.B.: What are the benefits of having a consultation with you?
A.R.: The greatest benefit is that the work brings harmony and balance into your environment and awareness of how space affects you. Our environment is a reflection of us and has a great impact on our lives including our health and relationships.

Short range benefits include:

~Cleaner, clearer and lighter space.
~Renewal of purpose for all of your belongings.
~A space that supports your current life and releases the past.

Long range benefits:

~Space for opportunities, people, and money to flow into your life.
~Increased harmony between family & friends, at home or in the office.
~Clearer thinking with less distraction.

B.B.: What do you do when you arrive at a client's house?
A.R.: I look at the space, discuss how the occupant feels about their space, and what they want to enhance or bring into their life. I evaluate the space and offer suggestions or changes that can help support the occupants' life goals by creating a supportive environment. A visual picture of the space is created using a floorplan and compass direction of the building. Some work is done onsite and a portion is done off site.

B.B.: A person's sitting on the fence, things aren’t going quite right in their home or office. They have your card, have read your interview yet they keep procrastinating to take the time to set up a consultation and have the experience. Why should they do this RIGHT NOW? What would you say to them?
AR: What I'd invite that person to think about is this: Taking action NOW will bring about the changes and support you need to propel you ahead. I invite you to experience this work for yourself. It will help stop the procrastination, create mental clarity, clear blocks and stagnant energy in the home and in you, the occupant.

With your willingness and patience, forward movement is possible. Feng Shui, along with the other techniques I employ, will help energize and empower you. I love this work and helping people to take action. By replacing chaos and disorder, I assist you in seeing and experiencing your space in a new way and opening up yourself to an abundant life filled with wonder, joy, peace, love, energy, vitality, health and harmony.

The Clutter Test

Amy invites you to try this exercise at home:

Removing clutter is an important part of fine tuning our environment. This step is necessary before deeper level methods can be used. Ask yourself:

1. Does it lift my energy when I think about it or look at it?
2. Do I absolutely love it?
3. Is it genuinely useful FOR ME?

Decide now that everything in your home has to have a valid purpose. Be strong and let go of things that no longer serve a purpose in your life. Tell yourself that it's safe to let go of. Be quick and decisive. If you need assistance with this, hire the help of a friend or professional.
